Just days away from the trade deadline, one of the biggest names on the board might be dealing with an injury.

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson left Wednesday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks with a lower-body injury after forward Drew O’Connor collided with him.

The incident happened late in the second period as O’Connor rushed in on a scoring chance. He attempted to stop but was shoved into the net by Ducks defenceman Drew Helleson.

Gibson remained on the ice after the collision as he was tended to by Ducks training staff, before ultimately deciding to exit the game. O’Connor received a two-minute minor penalty for goaltender interference.

Lukas Dostal replaced Gibson between the pipes, and the Ducks subsequently announced at the start of the third that he would not return.

In 25 games this season, the 31-year-old has a .911 save percentage and a 2.80 goals-against average for a 9-10-2 record. He missed the first month of this season after undergoing an emergency appendectomy.

The three-time All Star has two more years left on an eight-year, $51.2 million contract he signed in 2019.
