WeRide has partnered with Renault Group to offer a free trial of their Level-4 Robobus from March 10-14.

It’s the first time this tech is being showcased in Spain, giving the public a front-row seat to the future of urban transport in a bustling city environment.

A Milestone for Autonomous Mobility in Europe

The trial, running daily from 11 AM to 5 PM, features a 2-km route with four stops through central Barcelona. It builds on WeRide and Renault’s earlier test at Roland-Garros 2024, now hitting the streets with approval from Barcelona City Council and Spain’s traffic authority.

WeRide’s CEO Tony Han calls it “a pivotal moment” in their global expansion, proving their tech’s maturity beyond Asia and into Europe’s heart.

The electric Robobus aligns with Europe’s push for carbon neutrality and Low Emission Zones, showing how autonomy can tackle urban challenges.

If you are in the area, you can hop on at any of the four stops and experience Level-4 autonomy—where the vehicle handles most driving tasks solo—in real traffic.

The Bigger Picture

WeRide’s on a roll in Europe: a driverless Robobus launched in France last month (with Renault, beti, and Macif), a shuttle at Zurich Airport in January, and a pilot with Swiss railway SBB.

Barcelona’s trial is another step toward scaling autonomous tech globally, from Asian megacities to historic European hubs.

If you’re in Barcelona, take a ride—the future’s here, and it’s driverless.
