Windsor Police are conducting an investigation into what a source says is a fatal shooting near the former Water World in the city core.
Police have not yet confirmed what the investigation is about, though they announced on X Monday morning that the community should stay clear of the area around the 400 block of Wyandotte Street East.
“Please avoid the area until further notice, if possible,” the police Tweet said. “Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
A body was found in the playground in front of the city’s Homelessness and Housing Help Hub. A large portion of the property is cordoned off and a police cruiser is sitting in the middle of it.
There are what appear to be several bullet casings under police evidence markers on a concrete walkway in front of the building.
One resident, who lives behind the homelessness hub, told the Windsor Star he was woken by what sounded like gunshots earlier in the morning.
The former Windsor Water World is now home to the city’s Homelessness and Housing Help Hub, also known as H4, which acts as a service centre and drop-in facility.
